How to Have Tech Confidence in the New Year

Tech Confidence

Tech-Confidence?

What does the term “tech-confidence”, even mean? Sometimes technology can be overwhelming and intimidating, even for someone who knows their way around a computer. With every new update, something changes. It becomes difficult to navigate a site that you used to know like the back of your hand! Tech-confidence, plain and simple, is keeping you as up to date as your computer is.

In this blog, we’ll explain what it is to be tech confident, why it is important, and how we can get you there.

Two out of three employees quit purely due to what they feel is lack of proper training! A joint study found that 61% of staff become anxious when new technology enters the workplace. The lack of tech-confidence is widely experienced in almost every setting, from personal to office life. However, only 12% of employees feel productive when the technology at work is not up to date. People seem to be stuck in the limbo of wanting updated technology, and then being intimidated by it.

Technology advances so quickly that it turns into a chore to keep up, however, it is unavoidable. If we were to take the “technology” aspect out of the phrase, the simple definition of confidence is “the feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities”. That is OUR goal. To give you faith in your own abilities! So, how do we help provide tech-confidence?

How to have tech-confidence

Having tech-confidence starts with what’s available to you. Some ways that can build your confidence is to choose a device to spend more time on, so you’re able to become more familiar with it. This applies to websites as well. The more time you spend exploring a new site or update, the better you’ll understand it.

Try this: Try integrating some keyboard shortcuts, otherwise known as hotkeys, to help you save some keyboard time! A CTS favorite is “Ctrl C” for copying a paragraph, statement, or comment and then “Ctrl V” for pasting the previous paragraph, statement, etc.. Click here for more keyboard shortcuts.

Another way to feel comfortable with technology is to use tech resources! (Seems kind of redundant, we know...) What we mean by this is, with every update almost always comes with a video tutorial to provide assistance. Sometimes a written article may even be created! Using resources, you’re comfortable with, such as YouTube for video tutorials, helps provide confidence among new platforms.

Did you know? CTS has a video educational learning center called Tech Confidence! Check it out!

In addition to either of these, it never hurts to ask someone who is more experienced for help or to do your own research. It may seem redundant to research how to navigate a certain website or device on a computer but remember- you must crawl before you can walk young grasshopper!

We specialize in being personable with our customers while also providing confidence, security, and assistance behind every piece of technology.
